'NAACP President: Ron Paul Is Not A Racist'

A Word From Ron Paul

America became the greatest, most prosperous nation in history through low taxes, constitutionally limited government, personal freedom and a belief in sound money. I decided to run for president because I am deeply concerned that the conservative movement has drifted away from these principles that we once so fiercely defended. Deficits have exploded, entitlements are out of control and our personal liberties are threatened like never before.

The current state of our economy drives home the hard truth that living beyond our means has caught up to us. Oil is over $100 a barrel, the housing market is in sharp decline and the dollar is in a free fall.

The national debt now stands in excess of $9 trillion, more than $30,000 per person. The total future debt obligations of the United States, including entitlements, are estimated at around $59 trillion, which equates to over $500,000 per household. Social Security and Medicare will likely consume the entire federal budget by 2040, threatening the average American with an impossible tax burden.

As I said this past November to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, "We're indeed between a rock and a hard place, and we don't talk about how we got here; we talk about how we are going to patch it up." The "solutions" proposed so far--stimulus packages, bailouts and interest rate cuts--just amount to printing more money, which will lead to greater currency devaluation, contribute to the rising costs of living, and further squeeze the middle class and our senior citizens.

This is the first time in over 100 years that monetary policy is being discussed in earnest during a presidential campaign. Money is the lifeblood of any economy, and control over a nation's currency means control over its economic well-being. Fed bankers quite literally determine the value of our money by controlling the supply of dollars and establishing interest rates. Their actions can make you richer or poorer overnight, in terms of the value of your savings and the buying power of your paycheck. For over 30 years, I have been urging all Americans to educate themselves about monetary policy in order to better understand how a small group of unelected individuals at the Fed and the Treasury Department wield tremendous power over our lives.

In order to immediately strengthen the economy and lay the groundwork for continued prosperity, I have proposed a four-part plan that involves lower taxes, less spending, a sound monetary policy and regulatory reform.

We can take several immediate steps to reform our archaic tax system and give Americans back the fruits of their labor. I will work to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, including a repeal of the estate tax, and I will fight to end taxes on Social Security benefits and income derived from tips. I also believe that if we are to truly address the housing crisis, we will end taxes on forgiven mortgage debt, which is considered "income."

The most permanent tax reform we can undertake, though, is to end the income tax and abolish the IRS. We could remove the entire personal income tax-funded portion of the budget and the federal government would still receive roughly the same revenues that it did during the Clinton years. And we could do this without even touching Social Security and Medicare.

The key to tax reform lies in spending reform. It's time to cut back on our trillion-dollar overseas budget and use that money to secure the programs Washington has forced so many citizens to depend on. By doing this, we can let younger generations opt out of these programs and save for their own retirements and health care needs. As president, I will also veto any unbalanced budget and demand that Congress address wasteful spending.

Lower taxes and less government spending will put more money in your pocket. A sound monetary policy will increase the value of that money and drive down the costs of living.

Immediate monetary reform can be achieved by requiring transparency at the Fed. All Federal Reserve meetings should be televised just like the proceedings of Congress, and they should once again make all information on the money supply available. I also favor legalizing competing currencies. History is replete with examples of the inevitable failure of paper money systems, from our own founding days, to inter-war Germany, to the monetary crisis of 1970s Latin America.

However, I believe that for our economy to be secure in the long term, Congress must reassert its authority and end the unconstitutional Federal Reserve.

Finally, we must be willing to undertake regulatory reform. It would serve us well to revisit the myriad federal regulations that have stymied the innovative spirit of the American people.

One of the most damaging regulations imposed on the American people is the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. A survey by Financial Executives International put the average cost of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley at $4.4 million, while the American Economics Association estimates the Act could cost American companies as much as $35 billion. A study by the prestigious Wharton Business School found that the number of American companies delisting from public stock exchanges nearly tripled the year after Sarbanes-Oxley became law. One of the best things Congress could do for the American economy is to repeal this damaging legislation.

According to David Walker, former head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office, "We are mortgaging the future of our children and grandchildren at record rates, and that is not only an issue of fiscal irresponsibility, it's an issue of immorality."

Unless we embrace fundamental reforms, we will be caught in a financial storm that will humble this great country as no foreign enemy ever could. However, we can find safe harbor in our ideals. Reclaiming our historic legacy of principled commitment to liberty will, once again, unleash the innovative spirit that propelled our nation to heights of prosperity never before achieved in human history.

Why Ron Paul Works

2-29-08

AMERICA. What is America? What is America beyond the media, beyond the hyperbole and the image?

The answer is that America, like every other country, is in reality it’s people. The real breathing, working, reproducing, producing, tax paying people are America.

As we all know people have moods, temperaments, likes, dislikes, loves, joys, phobias, obsessions etc. Many of these can be based on history, influences, common experiences and a host of other factors. Americans, as a people, regardless of race, gender or faith have developed into a fair-minded, equitable people with a live and let live attitude.

As the average American sits in their home, they behave responsibly, conscious of their place in the overall community and neighborhood. Whil the media horrifies the public with the misfortunes and insanities of others on a daily basis the majority of us go about our lives in a civilized manner. We may not like or 'approve' of our neighbors at times, but Americans generally do not act in a manner inconsistent with our respect for the rights and sensitivities of others.

As with any people, there are issues and controversies amongst the millions of communities across the country. Yet beyond media fanned tempests most Americans desire to get on with governing their personal lives, fulfilling their social obligations, while avoiding unnecessary and implicating involvements with their neighbors. In this way Americans thrive and America as a Nation prospers.

Now by comparing the National character of the American people to the geo-political entity known as the US government we are confronted with an anomaly. The character of America's people and the character of the American government represent diametrically opposing realities.

While the average American practices a live and let live policy the US Government follows a live and let them die policy. The average American believes in a fair justice system while the US Government subsidizes a brutal drug war against the Nation and a prison industrial complex that has imprisoned 1 out of every 100 of our fellow citizens.

Americans trust their neighbors and fellow citizens everyday in millions of ways. Yet the US Government demands over-taxation with very little authentic representation. The US Government enforces its control of the basic structures of society such as education, health care, marriage and life style choices.

People are people and we all have negative thoughts, make off color remarks and have lapses of judgments. We the people recognize that and generally take it in stride, confronting such when required. Yet rather than recognizing this fact, the US Government and media have created a virtual thought-police mechanism that tars and feathers its victims beyond redemption.

Most Americans, of all backgrounds, depend on merit and ability as a crucial factor in their personal lives. Thus we choose a product or a person that fulfills the functions of our goal. Yet the US government along with the media ignores merit and ability as a prerequisite factor.

As the average American sits at home, she or he is aware of their neighborhood and community. Yet they do not desire an over-reaching influence or enforcement of laws, regulations and burdens upon themselves nor upon their neighbors. Somehow or another the Government of these very same people long ago established a system that is everything the real American is not.

Of course, we can not forget that in an imperfect world there are those that will and do harm others. Again the average American will always defend themselves and honor the rights of others to self defense. If attacked, America has always responded appropriately. The average American does not start fights but they do tend to finish them. However, the US Government has repeatedly engaged in unconstitutional undeclared wars. In other words, the last lawful war waged by America was fought, back in the 1940s, against Germany, Japan, Italy and their Axis allies. Ironically, it was also the last war in which America was victorious.

2008 is another election year. Once again America's people are being imposed upon by the Government and Corporate media complex. As these entities manipulate and obliviate us for our support, we look at our choices.

We see Hillary Rodham Clinton: Champion of Fascism in the name of Socialism with enforced vaccinations, health care based on Government approved standards that do not recognize natural and alternative health care, mandatory health insurance similar to the auto insurance industry mandates. Dedicated to the so-called drug war against the people and continued subsidization of the prison industrial complex. At best she will give America another dose of Clintonian governance.

Barack Hussein Obama: An unknown whose rise to political power was built upon the scandals of his political rivals. Both his Democratic and GOP rivals for the US Senate were taken out by well timed exposes involving abuse and sex scandals. Mysteriously, legally sealed divorce records were opened against the wishes of the clients that were than used to torpedo Obama's rival. Obama will at best give us a Euro-America and most likely turn America into an EU surrogate. The very same media that gives us ceaseless drivel of irrelevancy and daily doses of trauma, murders, rapes and perversion has given us Obama. No surprise really once we learn that George Soros is a major player behind the Obama ascendancy. Despite his alleged liberality, in part based on his extreme and impassioned defense of partial birth abortion, Obama is dedicated to the so-called drug war against the people and continued subsidization of the prison industrial complex.

John Sydney McCain: A 5+yr Prisoner of War. Potential Manchurian Candidate, torture victim with his finger on the nuclear button. Scary thought. Ever ready to continue draining America's resources in foreign wars and misadventures lasting up to one hundred years if necessary. Like Hillary and Obama, McCain is dedicated to the so-called drug war against the people and continued subsidization of the prison industrial complex.

Michael Dale Huckabee: Christian idealist that is allegedly for freedom yet supports the continued drain on our resources for foreign wars and international entanglements. Dedicated to the so-called drug war against the people and continued subsidization of the prison industrial complex.

Alan L. Keyes: Articulate and intelligent but his disastrous Senate campaign against Obama says it all. Dedicated to the so-called drug war against the people and continued subsidization of the prison industrial complex.

Ralph Nader: A passionate consumer advocate. However he has no track record of governance and is more suitable in a role of an advocate. He could make an excellent congressional representative. Nader's presidential campaigns have no doubt raised many legitimate issues. Refreshingly Nader is dedicated to ending the drug war and freeing America from the corporate stranglehold. Admittedly positive goals yet Nader appears to represent special interests of another sort rather than the Nation as a whole. He would, of course, be a good addition to any administration.

All of these above candidates excluding Ralph Nader represent the status quo which unfortunately means oppression, more wars against the American people and the people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and beyond. These candidates guarantee many more prisoners for the prison industrial complex, continued waste of our precious resources on behalf of vested interest and corporations. Clinton, Obama, McCain all represent the final implementation of an entrenched parasitic entity that is in the guise of government equipped with a multifaceted security apparatus.

There is only one candidate that broadly reflects the values and ethos of the American people. That man is Ron Paul. Ron Paul's message is in reality the voice of America's subconscious. It is as if the average American's persona and modus operandi has been incarnated into the candidacy of Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the American Avatar. Ron Paul's common sense approach to matters global and local directly reflects the approach that we as Americans have in our every day lives. Ron Paul's live and let live policy is that very same live and let live policy practiced by millions of us every day. Ron Paul's trust and confidence in the integrity and dependability of the American people is the same that we have in each other. We know as a people that we can handle our concerns and issues equitably in a manner consistent with who we are as Americans. Ron Paul recognizes that as well. That is why Ron Paul works. That is why Ron Paul works for me. That is why Ron Paul works for America.

So the big question is this: Why in a country that is allegedly "for the people and by the people" do we have a government that functions in a matter completely opposite to the character of the people? The answer is obvious: The current U.S. government is not "for the people" nor is it "by the people".

Fortunately, the blue print of a government for the people and by the people is available to us. That blue print is called the U.S. Constitution. The fact is elected officials take one oath and one oath alone. It is an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution. This means that the only oath our leaders take is to a government for the people and by the people. Yet a majority mouth the oath yet in reality serve the interests of corporate entities that are in the legal guise of citizens. These pseudo-citizens demand and receive privileges and rights that are hostile to the liberty of the true citizens of the Nation, it's people. Ron Paul loudly and boldly declared his commitment to the Constitution when he stated "I take my marching orders from the U.S. Constitution." With this statement Ron Paul made it obvious that he is the only US Presidential Candidate committed to the America of the people. In other words, no matter the alleged benefits of an agenda, if that agenda is not accord with the US Constitution Ron Paul will never support it.

No other candidate can equal Dr. Ron Paul's commitment nor track record as a public servant. He has sworn to serve the Constitution and takes his oath to heart. Thus the people of America have an authentic representative in Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the only candidate that is dedicated to the restoration of a good and authentically American form of governance. Ron Paul is committed to a form of governance that is reflective of who we are as a people and thus a Ron Paul administration would function naturally in tune with the reality that is America. That in essence is why Ron Paul works. That is why Ron Paul is working for us and for the restoration of the Republic.
